Bubble of Humanity

Within a small span of unpredictable life, we've got so much to do. Most of your childhood and adulthood will go through heavy monotonous study and work/job. Let's not forget to mention, maintaining your family, religion, culture, society, personal life and other miscellaneous errands. And after successfully completing all of these, you finally get to truly enjoy your life. That's it. Or is it?

Let's face it. True enjoyment can never be accomplished if you aren't lucky enough to be born in a solvent and upper society. In this case, these people are the minority (who actually get to enjoy their lives from childhood). But this essay is not about them. It's for us majority, the average people.

So, where were we? Yes. After spending all your adulthood tirelessly working, you finally get to get out of the cycle. Your responsibilities start to loosen up and your time starts to free up. That's what most of the general people dream of.

This dream, a dream where they finally get some inner peace and free time for themselves, is the perfect example of a bubble. A bubble of hope. We all are hardwired to make and accustom ourselves with these bubbles. These bubbles can be made of Hope, Pride, Enjoyment, Eternal Stuff etc.

Why is it called a bubble then? Long story short, It's an illusion we create ourselves to please the inner mind and more or less, the society. That's it. It's that simple!

The reason most of us are submerged into these bubbles are: Lifespan and Lifestyle. But in this case, lifespan plays a huge role to be the catalyst into the making of a bubble.

Let's see an example, shall we?

In my country, Bangladesh, there are four public examinations. Among them, SSC and HSC holds the most value in you career life. For your kind information, SSC is equivalent to 10th standard and HSC to 12th Standard. Every student has to pass in the HSC examination to get admitted in any kind of university and a very good result to sit for the admission tests in reputed universities. There is a term for the latter one, Admission War. Just imagine, how fierce and brutal a mere admission time can be for the students of Bangladesh (Though the whole South Asia Demographic is the same more or less).

So, the admission tests are there to justify the students knowledge, time management and cool headedness. And also the reputed universities don't really rely much on the HSC result to justify a student. It's only needed for the primary selection, where only the selected candidates can sit for an exam. Bangladesh is also a very densely populated country. So you can imagine the competition and the amount of pressure students feel.

Normally, most students flock where the society has told them to. BUET is famous for it's students and location and institutional pride. Dhaka University is famous for it's heritage and institutional pride. Dhaka Medical College is famous for it's students, location and institutional pride. BUTEX for it's subject and institutional pride. And all the other public universities all around the country for it's institutional pride. If you can get admitted to any reputed public universities, the society will adore you like a champion. You'll get more students to tuition thus more pocket money. And overall, wherever you go, when people come to know about your institution, they automatically change their attitude towards you (In a Positive way, duh)

Here's the catch. In terms of quality of education, place, facility, research and overall funding, None of them are world class worthy. The only thing that makes them so lucrative is......

Expense.

You see, the government sanctions the public universities. So the reading cost is almost negligible. This is the main catalyst here. This is where general people makes the line between public and private universities.

So where's the bubble? Still can't see? Let me help you. A student gets admitted to a reputed public university and since he gets all these extra facilities given by the people around him, he starts to think huge for his institution. A sense of pride comes within him. Other institutions, whether public or private, seems puny to him. His friend circle and alumni association also helps him understand what an elite and special group they are. This is his Bubble of Pride.

Outside his bubble, we get to know that his institution isn't even in on the top 1000 of all the other institutions worldwide. We also come to realize, for a bit of expense, you can get a whole load of facilities in the top reputed private universities. But from a bigger perspective, one might even say the even this is a bubble outside the bubble. But that isn't what we're going for.

Bubble of Hope is what I started with in this writing. A man hopes to live a good life and it's cost is his childhood and active adulthood. But however he achieves it, we all know that he can not cherish it for long. If a man takes 50 years to just get into a position where he can just be in peace, let me tell you, he's going to work for it like his life depends on it, Literally.

So what happens is, he spends all that time for just a moment worth of peace time. After that, the eternal destination, Death. One might argue, that this isn't the case for all of us. Of course. Every person has a different story, different criteria. I just generalized it for the sake of this topic.

Our roots are built within these bubbles. It's our human error. Some of them works out for good, some of them not. It's just the way it is.

So, now what? What's the point? Long story short, nothing (sort of). We subconsciously submerge ourselves with all kinds of bubbles and often time forget what the main purpose is. This is the sacred timeline (Loki reference hehe). But unlike in Loki, this timeline is completely intangible. So whatever we do, the end result always stays the same. But our thought and decisions are also pre-determined. When the correct time comes, thing sort of comes into place.

But there's always a little wiggle room. A wiggle room for improvement. Again, what can be considered as an improvement can be debated in many many ways. But in our current perspective, we know that, a place, moment or words can not be special on it's own. It's made special by the people who wanted to make it into one. In that sense, no institution is less than other (of course the well reputed ones. there are some uni who are just in it for the profit). No way we should wait to enjoy our life when we're at the end of it. It is our responsibility towards our soul to give it some solace from time to time (with the speed limit of course).

We have tremendous possibilities. But in reality, whatever is supposed to happen, happens. So, do what you think the best! Time's running out 😉
